Why the Word Became Flesh

The logos, the Word, encapsulates all that Jesus Christ is. He is, always has been, and always will be the Word. The most incredible thing to ponder is that the eternal became governed by time. The infinite became restricted by a body. And how did the immortal clothed Himself with mortal flesh?

It was Jesus, the living Word, who fulfilled all righteousness found in the written Word. He came to fulfill the law, written in the Word. "The Word became flesh" allowed us to see all that God wanted us to know lived out and shared in the life of the God-man. It was the Word who fulfilled hundreds of prophecies in the written Word. All that God has written is found in the life of only one, Jesus Christ. We call this the incarnation. Before the beginning of time, a choice had been made by the Godhead. The Son, the Creator, would become the Son, the redeemer.

Now, this Jesus, who entered our world, enters the lives and hearts of those who receive Him. You can have the living Word living in you. Just before v. 14 of John. 1 we read there words in John 1:12:

"But to all who did receive Him, He gave them the right to be children of God, to those who believe in His name" (John 1:12 HCSB)

Will you receive Jesus Christ so that your sins can be forgiven and you can live forever? That is why the Word became flesh. It was for you.
